First African American GS-11 Systems Analyst in the United States Property and Fiscal Office Supply & Services Division

Chief Warrant Officer Five (CW5) Veronica Y. Alexander:

CW5 Alexander was born on July 19, 1966, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She grew up in North Little Rock and graduated from Jacksonville High School in May 1984. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Studies from Grand Canyon University in May 2023.

In April 1984, CW5 Alexander enlisted in Company C, 38th Aviation Battalion, Arkansas Army National Guard. From June to October of 1984, CW5 Alexander completed her Basic Combat Training at Fort Dix, New Jersey and her Advance Individual Training at Fort Lee, Virginia, where she acquired military occupational skill 76C10, Equipment Repair Parts Specialist. On May 18, 2001, CW5 Alexander received her commission as Warrant Officer One, 920A, Property Accounting Technician.

At the beginning of her military career, CW5 Alexander worked on active-duty orders from 1984-1986 for the National Guard Bureau Professional Education Center, the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) and the Facilities Management Office (FMO). In 1986, CW5 Alexander was hired in the Military Technician Program as a GS-4 Admin Clerk within the United States Property and Fiscal Office, where she worked twenty-three years in the Supply & Services Division. On November 27, 2005, CW5 Alexander was promoted to the grade of GS-11 and assigned as the System Analyst in the Supply and Services Division. She was the first African American promoted as a GS-11, System Analyst in the USPFO Supply and Services Division.

During her career as a Warrant Officer, CW5 Alexander duties and assignments included Platoon Leader and Deputy Commander of Detachment 1, Company B, 935th Combat Support Battalion, Supply System Tech, 871st Troop Command, Property Accounting Tech in the 233rd Regional Training Institute, and Program Analyst, Surface Maintenance Office, Arkansas Army National Guard.

On June 16, 2009, CW5 Alexander transitioned from the Military Technician Program to Active Guard Reserve (AGR) status as the full-time Property Book Officer for the National Guard Marksmanship Training Center in the rank of CW3. She was the first Female African American Property Book Officer for the National Guard Marksmanship Training Center. CW5 Alexander remained in that assignment from 2009 to 2014. On May 7, 2014, CW5 Alexander was assigned to Joint Force Arkansas as the Property Accounting Officer and later assigned as the Property Accounting Technician in the G4 Plans and Policy Section. She was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer Five on November 8, 2021.

CW5 Alexander’s military education includes the U.S. Army Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training in MOS 76C, Primary Leadership Development Course, Arkansas Army National Guard Battle Skills Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, Warrant Officer Candidate Course, Warrant Officer Basic Course, Warrant Officer Advance Course, Warrant Officer Staff Course, Warrant Officer Senior Service Education and the Master Resilience Trainer Course.

Because of her distinguished service, CW5 Alexander received awards and decorations that included the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with one Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, and numerous other Federal and State Service Ribbons.

In December 2022, CW5 Alexander retired from the Arkansas Army National Guard with over 38 years of military service. She is a volunteer teacher in the Kingdom Kids program at her local church and she enjoys exploring the beauty in nature’s art by restoring old furniture pieces, traveling, and participating in activities with her four grandchildren.
